Club America Soccer Academy

Academy Curriculum

For U9 and U10 Age Groups

Academy Players:

The players for the Academy program will consist of 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders.

Technique:

The players will be introduced to techniques that will begin to build a basis for learning soccer skills. The skill will come from the player knowing when to apply the technique in a game.

Weekly Training Sessions:

Each weekly training session will focus on one topic. The topic will be introduced to the players and will be the main focus of the practice session. After a few weeks of practice sessions, a review of techniques introduced in previous weeks will be presented. A player will have between 1,400 to 1,800 touches per practice session.

Progressive Training Session:

Each of the training sessions will follow a progressive approach. Each activity will involve a level of opposition and/or constraint. The increase of opposition or constraint will progress within each activity until the practice session comes to a close. During the practice session, the trainer will reiterate certain key points related to the topic and current activity. A team cool down will take place at the end of the practice session to prevent players from injuries.

Activities:

  1. Technical Warm-Up
  2. Small-Sided Activity
  3. Expanded Small-Sided Activity
  4. 5 v 5 / 6 v 6 to Big Goals
  5. Cool Down
Tactical Skills will be introduced at the U10 age group. This will prepare the players for the next level competitive play at U11.
